Ongoing project: empower STEM Project empowerNCER – Academic: empower STEM Project
For this project, the Institute of Continuing Education & Professional Studies (iCEPS), UiTM collaborated with Plantzania Sdn Bhd. As a module provider, Plantzania is responsible for creating and delivering the module to all eight NCER locations such as Perlis, Langkawi, Kota Setar, Pendang, Sik, Baling, Kuala Muda and Yan.
The module was made as per student’s learning capacity and this brought the subjects closer to the student’s heart as it allows them to access and explore resources easily in their surroundings. Moreover, recycled products were used for the apparatus and materials in the project. This action can motivate the students to think outside of the box and be innovative in designs and solutions. Besides, it can improve the student’s knowledge delivery and techniques.
empowerNCER Academic is open to under-performing students from the B40 family category that are sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). This project aims to improve the students’ knowledge holistically for future endeavours. By maximizing student’s potential to improve in their learning and preparation techniques for examination, this project provided free coaching and training in the form of tutorial videos.
empower STEM Project is associated with engineering and science education that focuses on soil erosion. Students will be exposed to the factors and impacts of soil erosion as they need to experiment, understand the information and come out with a conclusion based on their observation. This hands-on learning process encourages students to explore their creativity and improve their thinking skills.
Collaborative and progressive efforts from educators, schools, students, government and the private sectors are required to promote and implement STEM education as we strive towards 21st-century teaching and learning strategies
